                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Collagen injections

Purified collagen is used to replace lost skin tissue and fill in depressions and wrinkles. Collagen injections can also be used to plump up the lips. Results last 3-4 months. Allergy test is required.

Restylane®
Since its FDA approval in early 2004, Restylane® has become the "must-have" dermal filler. It is a safe, temporary wrinkle filler consisting of a Hyaluronic Acid gel. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance that binds water to cells. While Restylane® is excellent for all areas of the face that have fine lines, it is used most commonly to fill smile lines, the nasal labial folds, the corners of the mouth, and lips. Results expected to last up to 6 months. Click here for more information on treatment with Restylane®

JUVÉDERM

The latest dermal filler advance from Allergan Inc., the manufacturer of BOTOX® Cosmetic, JUVÉDERM is a smooth gel, non-animal dermal filler offering a natural look/feel and long-lasting results for up to six months or longer. AestheticA Skin Health Center was chosen as one of a select group of physician offices to premiere Juvéderm prior to January 2007 availability.  Click here for more information on treatment with JUVÉDERM

Radiesse™ (Formerly Radiance FN)
A soft tissue filler, Radiesse™ is a long-lasting injectable made from calcium hydroxyapatite - the same material that forms the scaffolding of bones. Radiesse™ is used to fill smile lines, marionette lines, and lips. It is also useful in correcting acne and other scars. Results expected to last 2 - 5 years.  Click here for more information on treatment with Radiesse™.

Sculptra™
An injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Sculptra™ provides an increase in skin thickness, helping to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial lipoatrophy. Sculptra™ is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material. Sculptra™ is not made from human or animal sources and does not require a skin test. Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible (does not harm the body), biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) material that has been widely used for many years in surgical products. The effects are long-lasting; they were shown in a clinical study to last up to 2 years following the first treatment. Click here for more information on treatment with Sculptra™

Artefill™
Artefill is a revolutionary wrinkle filler for the correction of moderate to deep lines and folds around the mouth, as well as other areas of the face. It is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable filler. This means that ArteFill will work with your skin to correct your wrinkles for years after you receive your treatments. ArteFill utilizes the same materials used in many surgical implants. Each dose of ArteFill includes a tiny amount of this surgical implant product, called PMMA, shaped in the form of microscopic spheres. The micro-spheres are suspended in a purified bovine collagen which is similar to that which has been approved by the FDA and in use in the U.S. for many years. The collagen is the guide for placement of the microspheres. After a few months, the microspheres build a scaffolding with your body's own natural collagen which replaces the bovine collagen. After 5 years, the correction will usually look as good as it does after six months, and you may never desire additional correction in the area again. Skin peels

Light peels - (using AHAs, 15% Trichloracetic Acid [TCA] or Salicylic acid)

Superficial peels causing mild flaking of the skin for 2 to 6 days using topical non-toxic solution applications. These treatments are good for combating acne, dry skin, weathered sun damaged skin, blotchy pigmentation and fine wrinkles.

Medium peels - (20% to 50% TCA Peels, Obagi Blue Peels)

Unlike other types of deeper peels, TCA has the advantage of creating a fresh natural-appearing complexion, while preserving the normal skin color. The peeling process takes about one week. These treatments are good for quickly improving dull, weathered skin, freckling, blotchy pigmentation (including the "mask of pregnancy"), sun damage (including some pre-cancerous lesions), fine wrinkles and shallow acne scars.

Photorejuvenation
Using intense-pulsed light (IPL) with wavelengths that penetrate deeply enough and with sufficient energy to be absorbed by collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, IPL diminishes wrinkles through collagen remodeling. These treatments require little or no down time and work wonderfully in conjunction with microdermabrasion to rejuvenate the skin of your face, neck, chest, or hands. A series of treatments may be necessary to achieve best results.

Microdermabrasion
Gives the surface of the skin a soft and fresh look and feel. Treatments are relatively gentle, yet stimulate production of collagen and young skin cells by removing flaking and dead surface skin cells, creating an immediate improvement in your skin's appearance. A series of treatments is recommended to achieve best results.

Dermaplaning

Using a small blade to gently scrape off dead skin cells, dermaplaning is great for those who have problems with uneven skin, and the skin-smoothing treatment doubles as a painless technique for the removal of "peach fuzz". Smoother skin is immediately apparent.

Hair Removal

For treatment of the following skin problems:

  • Unwanted hair anywhere on the body
Laser hair removal
The most permanent hair reduction and removal is achieved with laser hair removal treatments. Using a revolutionary long-pulse high-energy laser, a gentle beam of light is emitted that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorbed. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. Facial and bikini areas are usually completed in less than fifteen minutes; legs, backs and larger areas take longer. These treatments are safe for all skin types, even tanned skin. A series of treatments is necessary to reach maximum results.

Intense-pulsed light (IPL) hair removal
For those who want a long-term reduction in unwanted hair that is less painful and longer lasting than "waxing", but don't have the budget for permanent laser hair removal. IPL treatments are less expensive than laser treatments. There is some permanent hair reduction, but these treatments do not produce permanent hair reduction and removal to the same degree that lasers do. These treatments may not be used on naturally dark complexions or tanned skin. A series of treatments is necessary to reach maximum results.

Electrolysis
If you are seeking to shape your eyebrows or the removal of 10 or less unwanted hairs and/or hair that is blonde, gray or white in color, call us for a referral to an Electrologist in the area.

Although electrolysis is a slower process than laser hair removal, it has the advantage of being able to remove lighter hair more efficiently and therefore is an excellent complement to hair removal treatments for white, gray or blond hair follicles that are resistant to IPL and laser treatments.

Vaniqa
VANIQA is the first and only prescription cream clinically proven to slow the growth of unwanted facial hair in women. VANIQA (eflornithine HCl) Cream, 13.9% doesn't remove hair like many products you may have used in the past. Instead it actually slows the growth, making it an ideal complement for any hair removal treatment.

Treatments for Pigmentation Problems

For treatment of the following skin problems:

  • Brown or dark moles
  • Unwanted tattoos
  • Unwanted freckles
  • "Age" spots anywhere on body
  • Mottled pigmentation on face, neck, upper chest, hands and arms

Laser mole removal
Some of AetheticA's lasers can selectively eliminate pigmented moles without injury to surrounding skin. This procedure is very tolerable and rarely requires any numbing of the skin to perform.

Laser tattoo removal
Artificial implantation of pigments into the skin (tattoos) can be removed without cutting or burning the skin and without scarring. Q-switched lasers use an intense beam of light to remove and lighten tattoos without harming the surrounding healthy skin cells. This laser may also be used for the treatment of Port Wine Stains and other birthmarks.

Photorejuvenation
Excellent and rapid treatment for brownish "age spots" or freckles. This skin treatment uses computerized pulses of light to repair sun damage, and vaporize unwanted pigment.

Microdermabrasion
A non-invasive procedure which uses a light suction of fine crystals, which are passed across the skin at a very high rate of speed resulting in a precise removal of the very top layers of skin. This removes some of the pigmented cells, creating an immediate improvement in your skin's appearance, without any down-time.

A series of 3-6 treatments is recommended.

Facial/Body Enhancement Procedures

Plastic Surgery consultations
No matter how much we laser your skin and use prescriptive creams, we can't make your nose smaller or take away the sags, bags and bulges that come with age. However, if you decide to correct these problems, we want to ensure that our clients are fully informed about the surgical options and the surgeons that perform the surgery. Not only does our staff have considerable knowledge and experience with cosmetic plastic surgery procedures, but AestheticA offers state-of-the-art video conferencing, where you can ask questions and discuss your concerns face-to-face with plastic surgeons from within the comfort and privacy of an AestheticA consultation room. Part of this service includes computer imaging to preview the changes and improvements possible with cosmetic surgery.

Permanent cosmetic makeup
If you are wanting to enhance or simplify your daily makeup application and considering permanent cosmetic makeup, call us for a referral to a permanent cosmetic makeup artist in the area.

Using state-of-the-art equipment and sterile "micropigmentation" techniques, permanent cosmetic makeup is used to enhance and define eyebrows, upper and lower eyeliner, lip-liner and entire lip and produce "beauty marks". Acne Treatments

Acne can be a very frustrating skin problem because there are a number of factors unique to each individual that can make some standard treatments ineffective. Acne problems require a customized approach depending on the age of the person, their skin type and the history and severity of their skin problems. At AestheticA, we take pride in FULLY evaluating each acne patient and spending the time and making the effort to customize a treatment regimen that is best for them. Effective treatments offered include Retin-A, Retin-A Micro, Differin, topical and oral antibiotics, Accutane, microdermabrasion and light chemical peels with salicylic, TCA or AHA solutions. Using just one type of treatment will usually achieve minimal, if any, results. There is a combination that works best for each individual and we work hard to determine what that best combination is. We understand the importance of healthy, blemish-free skin and how frustrating acne can be. We want to help you to get the beautiful skin that you deserve to have.

Intense-pulsed light acne therapy
The use of this IPL process offers acne sufferers a non-drug, easy and effective alternative without the side effects commonly found with drugs.

The Palomar LuxV dual band handpiece employs a broad spectrum of light to attack acne on two fronts:

  1. The LuxV’s short wavelength (400-700 nm) is ideal for absorption by porphyrins; this destroys p. acnes bacteria for a quick clearance of current acne breakouts
  2. The longer wavelength (870-1200 nm) penetrates deeper into the hyperactive sebaceous glands and slows down their metabolism to prevent future acne from forming.

Mulitple treatments are required to obtain and maintain satisfactory results.

Hyperhydrosis

BOTOX ® is recommended for the treatment of Axillary Hyperhydrosis, or excessive underarm sweating. When small doses are injected into the skin, BOTOX ® blocks the actions of the nerves that supply the eccrine glands: this prevents the glands from producing sweat. The effects of treatment last for several months (4-6 months). Repeat treatments will be necessary to maintain results.
